The truck was recently put back on the road at MATS and has already logged around 25,000 miles. Inside, the interior was finished by Randy at Spare Time with Rockwood floor, dash, and panels, giving the cab a clean and spacious look. The Double Eagle sleeper was completely redone by ATG in LaGrange, Indiana and includes a full shower, bathroom, toilet, microwave/convection oven, sink, and more. David hauls enclosed car trailers and is leased to Intercity Lines out of Massachusetts. What started as a simple cleanup project turned into a unique show truck and rolling display for the Chrome Shack. The original 1971 cab paint inspired the entire build, with the hood, fenders, and beverage trailer paint-matched and weathered to look like they’ve always belonged together. The truck was cut down from a tandem to a single axle, finished with a slick black frame, and paired with a practical display trailer that makes setup at truck shows quick and easy. At the Shell Rotella SuperRigs show in Bristol, Tennessee, Chris caught up with Chris McKay from Jacobstown, New Jersey, and took a walk around his sharp 1998 Kenworth W900L. This working W900L is powered by a 3406E Caterpillar with a little extra power, backed by a 13-speed and 3.55 gears. Chris says the truck is supposed to be around 700 horsepower, and it has no problem eating up hills while hauling light concert production loads, rock and roll gear, and even large live trees on a step deck.
